On February 7, the winner of the competition for sculpture projects of the monument to Pushkin was awarded in Beirut. It was the Lebanese sculptor Shadi Ismail. He presented the work in line with modern traditions and trends.
Also sculptors from Russia, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and other countries took part in the competition.
The project “If there is Pushkin, then there is Russia” is organized by the RUDN Alumni Association and Association of International Students in Russia. It is supported by the Russian House in Beirut, the Russian Embassy in Lebanon, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba and Society of Lebanese-Russian Friendship.
The monument to Pushkin will be set up in the park of Russian-Lebanese friendship in Ainab this year. It will become a symbol of friendship between Russia and Lebanon. The event is timed to the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Lebanon.
