For two weeks, well-known Chilean theater and film actors, teachers and students of two of the country’s largest universities were trained in acting and stage movement based on Stanislavsky’s methods.
The classes were conducted by the dean of the Acting Faculty of GITIS Taras Belousov and the head of the Department of Stage Plastics, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aidar Zakirov.
“Stanislavsky is loved and revered here at the edge of the world, the educational program of our university is based on his system, we know the theory well. But it was especially valuable for us to see how the methods of the great Russian director and teacher are applied in practice in modern Russia”, said Annie Murat, director of the Theater School at the University of Chile.
During these days, more than 70 Chileans have successfully completed training, including professional actors who are members of the Chileactores and Sidarte Foundation.
“Of course, we believed in the success of the business we started. But we did not expect that negotiations with local theaters and universities would lead to such serious plans for the future. In addition to exhibitions, joint productions, master classes for students and teachers, we are talking about the opening of the Faculty of Theater Arts, or the GITIS School of Theater Arts in Chile”, said Nina Milovidova, Head of the Russian House in Santiago.
“We represent one of the largest theater universities in the world. Our teachers, who have been trained by great masters, cherish this experience with love and trepidation and pass it on to new generations. And, of course, it will be a great honor for us to share our knowledge with Chileans”, said Marina Kiryushkina, Vice-Rector for General Affairs of GITIS.
The project in Santiago was implemented with the support of the Public Council at Rossotrudnichestvo.
