On February 22, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov met with Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Education of Bangladesh. The parties discussed the issues of increasing Russian scholarships in the areas of higher education, technical education, scientific and technical education, and agreements on mutual recognition of academic degrees between the two countries.
“Bangladesh is a country of talented people. I believe that Bangladesh will continue developing in the future, if there is an opportunity to receive high-quality education, and the Russian government always actively provides Bangladeshi students with the opportunity to obtain this world-class higher education in the globally known Russian language”, Pavel Shevtsov noted.
Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said that any Russian proposal regarding education is welcome. He recalled the humanitarian assistance provided by the Soviet Union during the liberation war in Bangladesh and expressed gratitude to the Russian government for contributing to the overall development of war-torn Bangladesh by providing free higher education to Bengali students in various industries and involving them in the reconstruction of the country.
According to Pavel Dvoichenkov, Head of the Russian House in Dhaka, since 1974 the Russian House has been providing institutional support for receiving higher education in Russia and conducting educational programs in the Russian language. The ambition of Bengali students to pursue higher education in Russia has grown, and the scholarships will be gradually increased.
