On November 21, a remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library was opened in India on the basis of the Russian House in Mumbai. This is the first such center in the country.
“We want to demonstrate to the Indian public what unique documents are in the electronic collection, and now they can be accessed directly from the Russian House in Mumbai”, commented Elena Remizova, Head of the representative office. In her opinion, this resource will be used not only by Indian readers, but also by our compatriots living in Mumbai. Residents of India have received full access to the fund of the national electronic repository, which contains more than a million documents and materials on the history of Russia.
During the opening, the Library staff presented a specially prepared archive of documents about India and about the history of relations between the two countries. From its pert, the Russian House in Mumbai demonstrated an exhibition of a unique “Primer” by Karion Istomin, released at the end of the XVII century at the Moscow Printing Yard. An electronic copy of this publication is now in the Presidential Library.
