The first five books of “The Great Victory” edition, translated into Greek, have already been presented in Cyprus. Updated materials have been prepared with the support of the Russian House in Nicosia and the Russian Embassy in Cyprus.
The bulk of the collections will be transferred to libraries and schools of the island. The editors of the material were Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), and Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO University.
Russian Ambassador to Cyprus Murat Zyazikov wrote the preface to the first volume. He noted that the multi-volume translation project was a response to a request from representatives of the Cypriot elites, who are concerned about the lack of objective information about the role of the Soviet Union in defeating fascism in the information field and educational programs of Cyprus.
“It is pleasant that a whole movement of enthusiasts is forming around the multi-volume translation project — both Russian-speaking Cypriots and compatriots who take up work on a voluntary basis, guided by their own human principles and beliefs”, Zyazikov said.
