From April 18 to May 9, the Russian House in Dar Es Salaam hosts the First Film Festival of Modern Russian Military Cinema, dedicated to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War over the Fascist invaders. The Festival program includes guided tours of the Victory Day exhibition, thematic lectures by Russian diplomats and watching modern feature films and documentaries dedicated to the Great Patriotic War in Russian with English subtitles.
On April 25, the screening of the feature film “Star” took place. It was about a group of scouts – young guys sent to the enemy’s rear in 1944 to perform an important task. As part of the Film Festival, the film “Star” became the second and again gathered a full hall of guests. More than 180 Tanzanians came to watch the film about the war, including students of the Center for Diplomatic Relations and the University of Dar es Salaam, students of Russian language courses, compatriots and Tanzanians-graduates of Russian and Soviet universities.
Russian diplomat Georgy Glavatskikh delivered a welcoming speech in Swahili to the guests, noting the importance of preserving historical memory.
The next film screenings will take place on May 2, 7 and 8.
