The historical and documentary exhibition of the Victory Museum “Volleys over the Neva” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade has opened in Mar del Plata. The exhibition was presented in this city, because Mar del Plata is the twin city of St. Petersburg.
The exhibition includes more than a hundred digitized materials from the collections of the Victory Museum: photographs, archives, maps, newspapers, posters and works of art depicting scenes from the life of the besieged city and testifying to the courage, extraordinary willpower and perseverance of the residents of the capital of North Korea in the conditions of a brutal siege. Volleys across the Neva River show the chronology of events from the beginning of the city’s defense in July 1941 to the fireworks display in honor of the complete lifting of the blockade on January 27, 1944. The exposition is complemented by QR codes, which allow you to get to know the biographies of the characters more deeply.
The Russian musician Yevgeny Grigorovich and the choir of the Russian Orthodox Parish also performed as part of the anniversary event, organized with the support of the Russian House in Buenos Aires and the Honorary Consulate of Russia in Mar del Plata.
