On December 12, the 95th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov was celebrated at the Russian House in Berlin.
“Today we are holding an evening of Russian-Kyrgyz friendship, and the reason for this was the 95th anniversary of the wonderful, outstanding writer of our time, Chingiz Aitmatov, who is revered, read and deeply respected both in Russia and in Kyrgyzstan, and throughout the world”, the Russian ambassador said.
Representatives of Russia and Kyrgyzstan spoke about the life of Chingiz, opened an exhibition and showed a film dedicated to the work of the writer, whose works have been translated into dozens of languages. The themes of his books are still relevant throughout the post-Soviet space.
“Chingiz Aitmatov is not only a Kyrgyz writer, he is a Soviet writer. This is the common thing that unites us, and today we celebrate its anniversary in Berlin at the House of Russian Culture. He was not only a writer, he was a philosopher, a public and political figure”, said Omurbek Tekebayev, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Germany.
