On April 18, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin Zaraisky, led the Divine Liturgy for the first time at the Russian House in Lusaka. He was assisted by the chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest Georgy Maksimov, and the dean of the parishes of Zambia, Priest Barnabas Ntasha.
The event was attended by Russian compatriots, Zambian citizens, as well as employees of the diplomatic mission and their family members. The Liturgy was conducted in Church Slavonic and English.
The guests expressed hope for the establishment of a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church in the capital of the country.
Metropolitan Konstantin thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Zambia, Azim Yarakhmedov, and the Russian House in Lusaka for their help.
