On January 28, Julia Kalyuzhnaya, the head of the Coastal Headquarters, joined the travelers in Phuket. For the efficiency of work on the island, the crew members divided their forces: Stanislav is preparing the ship for further sailing, and Evgeny and Julia are holding meetings within the framework of people’s diplomacy.
The first of them took place on February 2 at Prince of Songkla University. Evgeny Kovalevsky and Yulia Kalyuzhnaya told the students about the expedition: about the main tasks and difficulties encountered on the way. Representatives of the circumnavigation also answered questions of interest to the youth. Thais were very interested in stories about the taiga, snow and local residents of Siberia. Vladimir Kim, the Second Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Thailand, was also present at the meeting.
After that, the team managed to invite Thai residents to take part in the filming of the new “Lesson from the Ocean”.
On the same day, Evgeny and Julia also visited the Russian school “Rassvet”. Its founder, Nadezhda Zhuravleva, invited the team to speak to schoolchildren and inspire young people with her example.
On February 3, the Consulate General held a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin and Phuket Vice Governor Satha Thongkham. The team shared their unique experience of circumnavigating the world and thanked the people of Thailand for the warm welcome.
The preparation of the vessel for the passage to India continues: technical checks are being carried out on board. And on February 4, Philip, a temporary crew member from Moscow, joined the circumnavigation.
The project is supported by the Presidential Grants Foundation.
