Consul General of Russia in Calcutta Alexey Idamkin and Executive Director of the Institute of Translation Evgeny Reznichenko opened a Russian stand at the 47th International Book Fair in Calcutta. The event takes place in the central park of the city from January 18 to January 31.
The program includes lectures by writers Alexey Varlamov and Dmitry Zakharov on significant Russian authors, myths, the genre of dystopia and fiction in modern literature. Writer Vera Bogdanova will present the most relevant topics of Russian prose. Historian and cultural critic Anna Esparsa will talk about romanticism in the works of poets Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov. There will also be interactive conversations with writer Ragim Jafarov and Professor Sonu Saini of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
In addition, new books will be presented by the authors of children’s literature Marina Boroditskaya and Natalia Tumashkova. The guests will also see a cartoon based on the script of writer Oleg Roy “Jingliki” translated into Bengali.
