In honor of the 90th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s birth, the Historical Club of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Nicosia, together with students of the General Education School named after Y.Primakov organized a field event in the Municipal Park of the capital of Cyprus at the bust of the cosmonaut. This special event brought together space enthusiasts who celebrated Gagarin’s great achievement – his first flight into space in the history of mankind.
The event began with a presentation about the life and career of Yuri Gagarin, conducted by students of the Primakov School. They told about his childhood, preparation for the flight and about the most historic flight on the “Vostok” spaceship. The presentation was filled with children’s drawings, photographs and video materials that allowed the participants to plunge into the history and feel the emotions of those times.
The director of the Observatory, Kition Yorgos Trullias, spoke about how Yuri Gagarin spent time in Cyprus during his visit.
After the presentation, the guests went on an excursion to places associated with Gagarin.
