On December 11, Russian volunteers of the international program “Mission Dobro” started working in Abkhazia.
Natalia Ignatova, a teacher-psychologist from Kaliningrad, has already organized a training for local psychologists at Sukhumi Secondary School №2 named after Alexander Pushkin. She spoke about the reconciliation service, a new technique for resolving conflicts at school with the involvement of children as moderators, as well as about the parent’s living room. This is a model of interaction where parents act as teachers, and teachers as consultants who help with the necessary knowledge and techniques when communicating with a child.
Neuropsychologist Tamara Glavina conducted a diagnosis of primary school children with learning difficulties.
Orthopedic surgeon Vadim Drugov consulted children with impaired posture and flat feet. The children also received orthopedic insoles made according to individual parameters.
The project will cover three cities of the republic – Sukhum, Ochamchira and Gudauta.
The program is implemented by Rossotrudnichestvo and the Association of Volunteer Centers with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education of Abkhazia, as well as the “Rostock” Children’s Center.
