On February 20, a monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was erected in Caracas. The opening ceremony was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The bust is located in one of the oldest places in the city — in the park named after the national hero of the Republic Ezequiel Zamora. The sculpture is located on a pedestal that depicts a pile of books. The composition is made of bronze in the neoclassical style. The author is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, sculptor Vitaly Shanov.
“Pushkin now has his home in Venezuela, just as our liberator Simon Bolivar has his home in Moscow, where a monument was erected to him last year”, said Venezuelan deputy foreign minister for European affairs Franklin Ramirez.
