Day of Russian balalaika took place at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London

In the run up to Maslenitsa, the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo hosted a series of holiday events for children and adults.

Children attended a master class on making matryoshka. Kids were presented with an opportunity to create famous Russian dolls with their own hands. Upon completion of the master class younger guests enjoyed a concert of folk music performed with traditional instruments: balalaika, pitier, accordion, spoons, rattles, and accordion. The concert delivered by a famous artist, one of the world's best foreigners who mastered the art of balalaika - Bibs Eckel and his group. At the end of the evening, children and their parents attended a tea party in Russian style.

On the same evening, Bibs Eckel also played balalaika for adult lovers of Russian culture. The musician showed extraordinary virtuosity and passion for Russian musical traditions. The concert was accompanied with demonstration of unique specimens from the Bibs’ famous collection of balalaykas, stories about the history of Russian traditional musical instruments and different ways of playing them.
