The film narrates the story of the exploits of a woman’s battalion under the command of Mariya Bochkareva. The battalion was formed in Petrograd by order of the Provisional Government in 1917. Battalion was released in Russia on February 2015 and one year later, it was one of the three leaders of the audience voting on the website of the Russian Cinema Year.
Picture ‘Battalion’ won more than 40 international awards. Maria Aronova received award of the Portsmouth International Film Festival as Leading Actress in a Feature.
Organizers also demonstrated artifacts and photos from the shooting of the film, a unique chronicle of the First World War.
Representatives of cultural, scientific and diplomatic circles, British nationals, and journalists attended the screening.
