From June 26 to July 8, in the Kazakh city of Taraz, clinical psychologists and teachers from Russia conducted theoretical and practical training of specialists and parents on the basis of the Center for Social Adaptation for Children with Mental Disorders “Aruna — Tarazi”.
Over 300 Kazakhstani specialists and parents have been trained to work with special children within the framework of the international volunteer program “Mission Dobro”. Russian speech pathologists will develop a professional development program for Kazakhstani colleagues and continue to provide advisory assistance to parents.
“There are no immediate, easy results with children with mental disorders. We are ready to get in touch for another month and a half to continue counseling parents to control the situation”, said Patimat Omarova, a defectologist, volunteer of the “Mission Dobro”.
The “Mission Dobro” is organized by the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Kazakhstan, the Association of Volunteer Centers, the Center for Social Adaptation for Children with Mental Disabilities “Aruna – Tarazi”, the NGO “Union of Parents of Special Children”.
