The final tour of the International Olympiad for baccalaureate and master’s programs students studying information and communication technologies has been postponed until autumn. Originally, the award ceremony was envisaged to take place in Moscow in March this year, but then the final tour of the Olympiad and the awarding of winners were postponed until the lifting of restrictive measures related to the threat of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 spread.
Foreign winners and medalists will be given preferential treatment at entry into high education for baccalaureate and master’s programs at leading Russian universities, such as Higher School of Economics, Kazan Federal University, Southern Federal University, ITMO University, South-West State University and Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUCSR). Moreover, winners and medalists will have the chance to participate in student exchange programs, IT summer and winter schools, and get internships in leading Russian IT companies, such as Rostelecom, Smart Web-Services for Business Kontur and FORS. The Olympiad tasks, the first tour of which was held in Russian and English languages from January to February 2020, cover almost all relevant digital economy issues: neurotechnologies and artificial intelligence; distributed ledger systems; quantum technologies; new production technologies; industrial Internet; components of robotics and sensorics; wireless technology; virtual and augmented reality technologies; data science; big data.
The project is being implemented on request of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo). The InterMediaSol company acts as operator of the project.
The timing and terms of the final events will be announced later.
