60 years ago, Russia hosted the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1957. Decades later, in 1985, Russia again had the honor of hosting the Festival. In 2017, the jubilee year for the festival, which was first held in 1947, the Russian city of Sochi will become the new venue of the Festival.
World Festival of Youth and Students, the largest event in the field of international youth cooperation, will take place on 13-22 October 2017, and will bring together more than 20,000 of young people from 150 countries around the world. World Youth Festival will unite the community of young leaders in various fields - representatives of NGOs, youth, who achieved success in science, art, sports, pedagogy, IT, politics, and best representatives of the student community, compatriots and foreigners who are interested in Russian culture.
The festival is aimed to consolidate the youth world community, strengthen international ties, and develop interethnic and intercultural interaction. One of the main tasks of the forthcoming Festival wis to elaborate image of the future and attempt to formulate answers to the most pressing challenges facing the generation.
