Day of Russian science abroad

On June 7, 1999, the Day of Russian Science was established by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, with the date of celebration on February 8. The decree defines the establishment of a celebration date, "taking into account the outstanding role of national science in the development of the state and society, following historical traditions and seeking to commemorate the 275th anniversary of the founding of the Academy of Sciences in Russia."

The events dedicated to the Day of Russian Science are aimed at strengthening the positive image of Russia abroad, assisting in the implementation of the main objectives of modernization, increasing the competitiveness of Russian science, accelerating scientific, technical, social and economic development of the country as a whole, popularizing science and drawing public attention to scientific knowledge.

Every year, from February to May, the representative offices of Rossotrudnichestvo abroad host events dedicated to the Day of Russian Science, including scientific and practical conferences, seminars, exhibitions and round tables, presentations of scientific and educational programs of Russian organizations.
