The most important activities of the Agency:
- Promotion of Russian education, science and culture
Rossotrudnichestvo actively promotes Russian education and achievements of Russian science, cooperates with educational institutions of partner countries. Every year, Russian Houses participate in the selection of foreign students to Russian universities and work with graduates, of whom there are more than half a million worldwide.
- Strengthening the positions of the Russian language
Thousands of people are studying in Russian language courses at Russian Houses in many countries of the world. The Agency helps with language practice, provides an opportunity to get an education in Russian, and trains Russian language teachers and Russian-speaking subject teachers.
- Support for compatriots abroad
Rossotrudnichestvo provides support to public associations of compatriots abroad and promotes their voluntary resettlement in Russia.
- Youth projects
Every year the Agency invites to Russia about 2,000 people from different countries – children of compatriots and young professionals. For this purpose, the “Hello, Russia!” and “New Generation” programs have been developed and are operating.
- Promoting international development
Rossotrudnichestvo actively participates in assistance programs to foreign states, assists Russian peacekeepers, organizes the training of volunteers and crisis specialists.
- Historical and memorial activities
The Agency is engaged in the maintenance and preservation of burial places located abroad that are of historical and memorial significance for the Russian Federation. Rossotrudnichestvo actively involves the potential of non-profit organizations, associations of compatriots, including the youth and volunteer movement in this work.
Programs and projects
Since 2011, Rossotrudnichestvo has been implementing a program of short-term study trips “New Generation” to Russia for young representatives of political, public, scientific and business circles of foreign countries. The program was approved by special Decree of the President of the Russian Federation №1394 dated October 19, 2011. Every year, more than 1,000 young leaders aged 25 to 35 years visit Russia to establish professional contacts, build long-term partnerships with Russian state and non-state structures, youth and public organizations.
Since 2014, Rossotrudnichestvo has been implementing the “Hello, Russia!” program for young compatriots. Every year, about 700 teenagers aged 14 to 19 from near and far abroad come to Russia to get acquainted with its modern life, educational and career opportunities, experience the multinational culture of their historical homeland, practice the Russian language and find new friends from different countries.
The winners of the contests for knowledge of Russian history, culture and the Russian language become participants of the program. The selection tests are conducted by Russian Houses abroad.
Since 2021, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Association of Volunteer Centers and the Russian Humanitarian Mission have been implementing the international humanitarian project “Mission Dobro”.
The project promotes the development of international volunteering in Russia and humanitarian cooperation with foreign countries. As part of the mission, Russians participate in socially significant volunteer projects to provide assistance and gain experience in international volunteering.
In the future, the project will also be available to foreign volunteers who will be able to participate in social projects in the regions of Russia.

The social project is implemented jointly with socially oriented non-profit organizations. Taking into account regional specifics, Rossotrudnichestvo partners select Russian speakers, world-class experts who conduct round tables, trainings and masterclasses on the basis of Russian Houses, share best practices with colleagues. Participants: societies of disabled people, volunteer associations, centers for children and youth with disabilities, youth socio-legal rehabilitation centers, as well as socially oriented non-profit organizations.

Rossotrudnichestvo supports Russian compatriots abroad, protects their rights and promotes voluntary resettlement to Russia.
In accordance with the Regulations on Rossotrudnichestvo, the Agency organizes measures to preserve objects located abroad that have historical and memorial significance for the Russian Federation.
Grants
Rossotrudnichestvo annually conducts a competitive selection for the right to grants from the federal budget in the form of subsidies to legal entities for the implementation of measures aimed at the full functioning and development of the Russian language, as part of the implementation of a set of process measures “Scientific, methodological and personnel support for teaching Russian and the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation” of the state program of the Russian Federation “Development of education”.
